Strengthening Rhode Island families starts with basic needs support

We're Here To Help.

Over 30 years providing family peer support dedicated to children's behavioral health in Rhode Island. We partner with parents and family caregivers who have at risk children and youth or who have serious emotional, behavioral and mental health needs. We have learned that basic needs is the place to start in our mission to strengthen families.

Some data from the 2023 Rhode Island KIDS COUNT Factbook:

  • Family residential instability and homelessness contribute to poor educational outcomes for children. Homeless children are more likely to change schools, be chronically absent from school, and have lower academic achievement than children who have housing.
  • Low-income workers are less likely to have benefits, such as paid time off and flexible work schedules, that would allow them to address the needs of sick children.
  • According to 2022 survey data from the RI Life Index, 41% of households with children in Rhode Island reported not being able to meet their basic food needs
